More details: I've been struggling with the GOG version of HuniePop for almost a year now. The audio won't work, the game crashes, etc. I thought I created a foolproof solution for the sound before by installing libasound2, but it turns out the packages have a major conflict in Debian Sid today. I used to be able to stop the crashing by removing libstdc++.so from the game's libs, but that alone won't fix it today. Since this is one of my favorite games, one which I'd like to keep DRM free, I attempted to run this game through the Steam Runtime, which I had before with great success. It kept on crashing though, and so I had to do some troubleshooting.Īfter all that, I came up with this. It's essentially a slimmed-down version of the Steam Runtime specifically for running the GOG version of HuniePop.

(I promise I didn't do anything evil, you can read the. Just clone it, put the files in the HuniePop root folder and all should be well. If this can save even one other person from struggling to play this game, then that's my mission accomplished. So basically with Steam they provided the dependencies, but with GoG they left many out instead of including them or more statically building it (compiling the libraries into the binaries). I really wish devs would use something that would quarantine things better, like snap or perhaps flatpak, to make sure that everything is included that needs to be. You can't find the Linux version anywhere anymore, and it had a bunch of missing libraries, but after adding those, presto! Game runs great now on modern distros! So thank you for the work of getting poorly-built games working! I had to do this same thing with Heroes of Might and Magic III. #HUNIEPOP UNCENSOR PATCH FOR STEAM LINUX FULL#.
